Dear Travel Partner,
We are delighted to share an update from Stampriet Historical Guesthouse, a peaceful retreat set within the lush river oasis of southern Namibia. Surrounded by tall trees, flowing ponds, and the striking geology of the Kalahari, our guesthouse offers a warm, character filled stay for travellers seeking comfort, history, and heartfelt hospitality. A Timeless Stopover in the Heart of the Kalahari
Located 60 km east of Mariental, Stampriet Historical Guesthouse is a favourite overnight option for guests travelling towards Keetmanshoop or the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Travellers may continue via Mariental the next day or enjoy the scenic Auob Riverbed route, passing limestone formations, red Kalahari dunes, the Quiver Tree Forest, and Giants Playground.
Our Story & Heritage
Established in 2002, the guesthouse was created to honour the cultural and architectural heritage of Stampriet. Set on a gentle rise overlooking the village, the property is surrounded by lush gardens fed by underground water sources — a refreshing oasis in an otherwise arid landscape.
Every corner reflects the spirit of old Stampriet: antique décor, historical artefacts, stone buildings, and a warm, homely atmosphere. The guesthouse is family run, with roots in Stampriet dating back to 1950. Petro and her husband, Kobus Hayman, manage the property and are known for their genuine hospitality and dedication to going the extra mile for every guest.
